This Standard specifies a method for determining the density of paints, varnishes and related products using a metal or Gay-Lussac pyknometer.

This Standard, however, does not apply high viscous samples like putty products.

NOTE 1 Highly viscous materials like putty products can be measured by using the Hubbard pyknometer specified in ISO 3507.

NOTE 2 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/ lEC Guide 21-1.
