Scope
1.1 This specification covers concentric-lay-stranded conductors, made of round aluminum-alloy 5005-H19 (extra-hard) wires, for general use for electrical purposes. These conductors shall be constructed with a central core wire surrounded by one or more layers of helically laid wires (Explanatory Notes 1 and 2).
1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard, with the exception of resistivity. The SI equivalents of inch-pound units may be approximate.
Note 1-The alloy and temper designations conform to ANSI H35.1. Aluminum-alloy 5005 corresponds to unified numbering system alloy A95505 in accordance with Practice E527.
