This British Standard specifies dimensions and performance requirements for general purpose cartridge fuse links of current ratings not exceeding 13 A for domestic and similar purposes (primarily for use in plugs complying with the requirements of BS 1363) on declared supply voltages not exceeding 250 V (see 4.5) at a nominal frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
It does not cover fuse bases or fuse holders for use with these fuse links.

The object of this specification is to standardize the characteristics, construction, tests and markings of fuse links coming within its scope. In particular to standardize:
-
the rated voltage;
-
the rated currents;
-
the rated power loss;
-
the time/current zones and conventional currents;
-
the rated breaking capacity; and
-
the dimensions.
