La présente Norme internationale spécifie des méthodes d'échantillonnage du thé soluble sous forme solide (dénommé par la suite «thé soluble»). Elle s'applique à l'échantillonnage des emballages de toutes tailles. Des méthodes séparées sont décrites pour l'échantillonnage au point usine, l'échantillonnage lors des étapes suivantes de la chaîne de distribution et l'échantillonnage des paquets au stade du détail. De plus, pour quelques-uns de ces points d'échantillonnage, des modes opératoires différents ou des précautions particulières sont spécifiés, selon que les échantillons doivent être utilisés pour l'examen des caractéristiques des particules (par exemple masse volumique, écoulement, taille des particules) ou des caractéristiques de composition (par exemple teneur en eau, cendres).
