`This Standard specifies thermometers for general, with a measurement unit of Celsius degree (OC), and of temperature scale between -30°C and 360 °C (hereafter referred to as "thermometer").

NOTE: The International Standards corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 1770: 1981 Solid-stem general purpose thermometers

ISO 1771: 1981 Enclosed-scale general purpose thermometers (overall evaluation: MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standards and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEC Guide 21-1.
