This Standard is applicable to the methods of measurement of the magnetic properties of electrical steel strip and sheet in the medium-frequency range of 400 Hz to 10 kHz under a.c. excitation.

The object of this Standard is to define the terms and to specify the methods of measurement of the magnetic properties of electrical steel strip and sheet.

The Epstein frame is applicable to test specimens sampled from electrical steel strip and sheet of any grade.

The a.c. magnetic properties are determined under the excitation condition that the induced voltage becomes sinusoidal (hereafter referred to as "sinusoidal magnetic flux excitation condition") by designating the peak value of magnetic flux density and the frequency.

The measurements are to be made at an ambient temperature of 23°C ± 5 °C on test specimens that have first been demagnetized.

NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

IEC 60404-10 : 1988 Magnetic materials.

Part 10 : Methods of measurement ofmagnetic properties ofmagnetic sheet and strip at medium frequencies (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
