This Standard is a sectional specification associated with generic specification JIS C 5101-1 and specifies fixed metallized polyphenylene sulfide film dielectric surface mount d.c. capacitors for use in electronic equipment (hereafter referred to as "capacitors").
This Standard is applicable to fixed surface mount capacitors for direct current, with metallized electrodes and polyphenylene sulfide dielectric for use in electronic equipment.
These capacitors have metallized connecting pads or soldering strips and are intended to be mounted directly onto substrates for hybrid circuits or onto printed boards.
These capacitors may have "self-healing properties" depending on conditions of use.
They are primarily intended for applications where the a.c. component is small with respect to the rated voltage.
These capacitors are classified into three performance grades, i.e. performance Grade 1 for long life applications, performance grade 2 general applications and performance grade3 fro miniature type specification.
This Standard does not apply to the following capacitors.
Capacitors for radio interference suppression cited in JIS C 6065, which are covered by JIS C 5101-14.
Capacitors for motors and for fluorescent lamps (for which IEC/TC33: Power capacitors and IEC/TC34: Lamps and related equipment are responsible).
NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows:
