This Standard applies to interchangeable incandescent lamps and halogen lamps to be used in headlamps, fog-lamps and signaling lamps for road vehicles (hereafter referred to as "filament lamps") and discharge lamps, and specifies the methods of test and the technical requirements of basic interchangeability (dimensional, electrical and luminous).
In this Standard, the term "lamps" generically refers to both filament lamps and discharge lamps.
Details of lamp classification are stated in clause 5.
Performance requirements such as lamp life, lumen maintenance, torsion strength and resistance to vibration are described in clauses 2 and 3 of JIS C 7506-2.
Information such as temperature limits and maximum lamp outlines is included in Annex F of JIS C 7506-2.
Other small filament lamps are stated in This Standard applies to interchangeable incandescent lamps and halogen lamps are stated in JIS C 7506-3.
