Application and type of steel products

This Standard specifies an employers qualification system of the steel manufacturer for the non-destructive testing (hereafter referred to as "NDT") personnel who executes the inspection of the following steel products.

a) Tubes

b) Steel sheets, steel strips, rails, bars, sections, rods and wires

NDT level

This Standard describes the qualification requirements for Level 1 and Level 2 of NDT personnel who carries out the specific NDT tasks of steel products.

NDT method

This Standard shall apply to NDT personnel who predominantly executes the automated inspection of steel products by using any of the following NDT methods.

a) Eddy current testing (ET)

b) Flux leakage testing (FT)

c) Liquid penetrant testing (PT)

d) Magnetic particle testing (MT)

e) Radiographic testing (RT)

f) Ultrasonic testing (UT)

NOTE 1 In ISO/FDIS 11484.2, Visual inspection testing (VT) and Leak testing (LT) are included.

NOTE 2 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO/FDIS 11484.2 : 2008 Steel products-Employers qualification system for non-destructive testing (NDT) personnel (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical)?

MOD (modified)? and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
