This Standard specifies requirements for piano wire rods (hereafter referred to as wire rods) to be used for the manufacture of piano wires, oil tempered steel wires, steel wires for prestressed concrete, steel wire strands for prestressed concrete, wire ropes, etc.

ISO 16120-1:2017 Non-alloy steel wire rod for conversion to wire—Part 1: General requirements

ISO 16120-4:2017 Non-alloy steel wire rod for conversion to wire—Part 4: Specific requirements for wire rod for special applications (Overall evaluation: MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/ IEC Guide 21-1.
