This Standard specifies a method for checking the continuity of anodic oxidation coatings of thickness less than 5 !lm (hereafter referred to as "coatings") and coatings that have been deformed of thickness 5 !lm or greater which are applied on products of aluminium and its alloys (hereafter referred to as "products") by a copper sulfate contact test.

NOTE 1 The method described enables a rapid check to be made for the continuity of a thin coating.

In cases of doubt regarding a visible fault on the surface of a coating, the use of this method makes it possible to verify whether the fault corresponds to a local gap in the coating which exposes bare metal.

NOTE 2 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 2085: 2010 Anodizing of aluminium and its alloys-Check for continuity of thin anodic oxidation coatings-Copper sulfate test (MOD)

The symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/ lEC Guide 21-1.
