This Standard specifies requirements for cords and drawstrings on childrens clothing.
For the clothing required to correspond to the special needs for children, the supplementary or additional requirements are requested In some cases, however, this Standard does not include these requirements.
This Standard is applicable to the whole stages of the clothing supply chain including the designers of the childrens clothing, the specification determiners and the manufacturers.
And it is intended that this Standard is used by the importers, the distributors, the retail dealers, the consumers and the like at the time of selecting the childrens clothing considering the safety of cords and drawstrings.
This Standard does not apply to the following products.
a) Child use and care articles, for example bibs, nappies, dummy holders and underwears
b) Shoes, boots and similar footwear
c) Gloves, hats, bonnets, scarves and hoses
d) Neckties designed to be worn with a shirt or blouse (see Annex A)
e) Belts, braces and garters
f) Religious clothing and cele bra tory clothing such as that worn at civil or religious ceremonies, national or regional festivals (see Annex A)
g) Specialist sportswear and activity wear generally worn for limited periods and under supervision, except where those garments are commonly worn as day wear or night wear (see Annex A)
h) Theatrical costumes used for theatrical performances
i) Aprons intended to be worn over day wear, for limited periods and under supervision to protect clothing from soiling during activities such as painting, cooking, or during meal times
j) Japanese style garments (for example, underwear for neonate, JIMBEI and YUKATA)
NOTE: For these products, the safety criteria should be separately determined if necessary.
