This Standard specifies a method to provide a relative measure for evaluating the degree of size degradation of iron ores when reduced in a fixed bed at the temperature of 550°C and then tumbled in a tumble drum at room temperature, under conditions resembling those prevailing in the low-temperature reduction zone of a blast furnace.
This Standard is applicable to natural iron ores (hereafter referred to as "sized ores") and iron ore agglomerates [hot-bonded pellets (hereafter referred to as "pellets") and sinter ].
NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows :
ISO 4696-2 : 2007 Iron ores for blast furnace feed-stocks – Determination of low-temperature reduction-disintegration indices by static method – Part 2: Reduction with CO and N2 (MOD)
The symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
