This Standard specifies methods for testing the durability of edge seals used on the periphery of insulating glass units by means of climate tests.
Of the methods for testing the durability of edge seals by climate tests, the method intended for the use in the North American market is designated as Approach 1 and for the use in the European market as Approach 2 in this Standard.
This Standard is applicable to sealed, insulating glass units with one or two cavity layers, including insulating glass units with tubes connecting the cavity layers and the surrounding atmosphere for the purpose of equalizing pressure.
This Standard is not applicable to insulating glass units that contain a spandrel glass coating and does not apply to insulating glass units whose function is decorative only.
