This Standard specifies the assistive products for walking manupulated by both arms, particularly the walking aids that do not have a wheel (hereafter referred to as "walking frames").

However, this Standard excludes the assistive products for standing and the assistive chairs for walking.

In addition, the wheel 1) that is locked if a weight is applied is not regarded as a wheel.

Note 1) The wheel that is locked if a weight is applied has the following structure.

When the force of 50 N is loaded on a handle, legs other than wheels touch the ground.

As a result, the load is supported by legs, not by wheels.

Alternatively wheels are fixed securely [see 1) of b) in figure 4].

NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 11199-1:1999 Walking aids manipulated by both arms—Requirements and test methods—Part 1: Walking frames (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
