This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies requirements for steel pails (hereafter referred to as pails) of 18 L to 20 L in nominal capacity used for containers for the transport and storage of dangerous objects of liquid and solid state, and of undangerous objects.

NOTE 1 The dangerous object used in this Standard indicates those which are subjected to the following laws.

— Ship Safety Act (Act No. 11 of 1933)

— Fire Service Act (Act No. 186 of 1948)

— Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Act (Act No. 303 of 1950)

— Civil Aeronautics Act (Act No. 231 of 1952)

NOTE 2 The dangerous objects of liquid and solid state used in this Standard are subject to the relevant laws.

NOTE 3 The hazard rating used in this Standard is to be read as follows according to the relevant laws.

— Ship Safety Act : class of container

— Fire Service Act : hazard rating

— Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Act : packaging group

— Civil Aeronautics Act : class of container
