Apply the most up-to-date criteria to guard against fire dangers!
This Standard defines types of building construction based on the combustibility and the fire resistance rating of a building’s structural elements.
Completely reworked by the Technical Committee on Building Construction, the 2006 NFPA 220 is now an extract document of NFPA 5000®: Building Construction and Safety Code®, Section 7.2.
Changes to this edition include:
- Chapter 4: Types of Building Construction (based on NFPA 5000 , Sections 7.2-7.2.6) has been expanded to include special requirements for the various types of construction
- A new Chapter 5 has been added to address Fire Resistance Rating Requirements for Structural Elements (based on NFPA 5000 , Section 7.2.7).
- Editorial restructuring makes the document easier to use, adopt, and enforce.
(Approx. 13 pp., 2006)
