The 2022 edition of NFPA 24, Standard for the Installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their Appurtenances, includes the following updates: An item was added to the standard’s scope that NFPA 24 does not apply to dry fire hydrants used for drafting. In Chapter 5, a requirement was added to clarify that a single fire department connection can supply multiple buildings where approved by the AHJ. In Chapter 6, alternate distance criteria were added for post indicator valves and backflow preventors. In Chapter 10, a new section was added to clarify that the flush rates of NFPA 20, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection, need to be used where a fire pump is connected to the water supply.
