Vital revisions and additions to the latest edition of NFPA 37 include the following: Fire test criteria was revised to establish clearance distances for locating engines on roofs and outdoors. Annex language was added clarifying that engine rooms, enclosures, or other locations are not classified based on NFPA 70Ā®, National Electrical CodeĀ®. This standard is essential for loss prevention professionals; designers and installers of stationary engines for fire pumps, standby power supplies, and emergency generators; insurers; and AHJs to help improve safe engine operation and minimize fire hazards.
