Introduction

This Part defines the Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD)
subnetwork subprofiles. The CDPD Service Provider must select one
subprofile from among this set for each real subnetwork interface
of a system. These technologies exhibit physical, functional,
performance, and cost differences that render some subprofiles more
appropriate than others for particular uses.

Other subnetwork technologies (subprofiles) may be used to meet
specific deployment requirements. In such cases the CDPD Service
Provider must provide proper specification, including conformance
requirements, to ensure procurement of an effective product. That
is, a product capable of supporting the selected CDPD lower layer
subprofiles and interoperating with all systems to be attached to
the subnetwork.
