1 Scope

1.1 These requirements cover hydraulic surge suppressors used in water based fire protection systems.

1.2 The hydraulic surge suppressors covered by these requirements are intended to absorb transient pressure waves caused by starting and stopping the fire pump and rapid closing of valves in fire suppression systems. They are intended to be sized to the specific system piping and pressurized in accordance with the manufacturer's Installation and Design instructions.
