NZS 1951:1965 ?u=/product/publishers/snz/nzs-19511965/ Wed, 06 Nov 2024 05:11:17 +0000 Specification for semi-enclosed electric fuses, ratings up to 200 amperes and 250 volts to earth
Published By Publication Date Number of Pages
SNZ 1965 48
]]>
Describes the widely used "rewireable" fuse suitable for use on circuits where prospective short-circuit currents have only moderate severity (that is, not requiring the high breaking capacity of a cartridge fuse such as in NZS 6208). Six categories of duty are provided, for both alternating current and direct current selected from the range 1 000 A to 12 000 A. Requirements are set to ensure personal safety and to prevent fire. Test methods and criteria include a photographic assessment of glowing particle emission, and visual assessment for any damage to components. Extensive appendices include notes on measurements, calculations, use of oscillograms, and selection of fuses according to power supply capacity, length of cable and other factors. Reprinted to append Amendments 1 & 2.

Published By Publication Date Number of Pages
SNZ 1963 24
]]>
Describes the customary New Zealand detachable connector arrangement used for electric jugs and other appliances with a load rating up to 10 A at up to 250 V. The connector is flat (reversible) having two recessed contact tubes to connect to the two round pins of the appliance inlet, and having a pair of exposed earthing contacts to make a scraping connection with the earthing plate of the appliance inlet. The specification sets out essential dimensions for fit, and prescribes safety and performance requirements and tests.
