The source data of the 10 Gb/s data stream is composed from multiple 1.5 Gb/s Basic Streams. This standard classifies applicable source image formats carried on 10 Gb/s interfaces, and defines their system numbers. The standard also defines how the source image formats are divided into one or more Basic Streams. The Basic Streams comply with the interleaved data stream structure defined in SMPTE ST 292-1 and are utilized as the input streams to the mapping part of SMPTE ST 435-2. The source image formats for the interface are defined in SMPTE ST 274, SMPTE ST 296, SMPTE ST 428-11, SMPTE ST 2048-1, SMPTE ST 2036-1 and Recommendation ITU-R BT.1769. The interface also supports transmission of the embedded audio, payload ID and other ancillary data with a data format defined in SMPTE ST 291. The Basic Streams are utilized as the input streams to SMPTE ST 435-2.

This standard describes an interface for a general purpose fiber optic connector for interconnection of television equipment. For information on testing for physically demanding applications, the reader is directed to the informative references listed in annex B. The connectors may find use in a variety of other signal transmission applications. The design accommodates both single mode and multimode optical fibers. — The standard defines connectors that are hermaphroditic by construction, allowing cable plugs to mate with like cable plugs as well as bulkhead receptacles, while maintaining polarization. — Separate physical packaging design objectives will result in the availability of both cable and bulkhead connectors for installation in harsh environments. — Connector and optical termini adhering to the limits of the interfacial dimensions of this standard will inter-mate. Applicable tolerances to the basic dimensions shall be such that the combined value of these tolerances shall not exceed the limit described in note 5.

Abtract:

This standard describes the minimum performance for a hybrid cable containing single-mode optical fibers and electrical conductors to convey signal and control in a variety of environments where moisture, weather, and ozone resistance are required. This document is not intended to be a cable manufacturing design standard. The cable described in this standard is intended to be used to interconnect cameras and base stations in conjunction with the connectors complying with SMPTE 304M; however, it may be used for other applications where appropriate.

Abtract:

This standard defines a connector primarily intended for use in television broadcasting and video equipment, such as camera head to camera control-unit connections. It defines hybrid connectors, which contain a combination of electrical contacts and fiber-optic contacts for single-mode fibers. It also contains dimensional tolerances which ensure nondestructive mating of the electrical and optical interfaces, and functional operability of the electrical interface. Functional operability of the optical interface is dependent upon fiber preparation and termination and is, therefore, not guaranteed by this standard. — The connector described in this standard is intended for use primarily with the hybrid fiber optic camera cable described in SMPTE 311; however, this connector may be used independently to meet other requirements.
