Parallel to the requirements in <em>NFPA 33<\/em> for spray application, this document provides rules for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proper location, design, and construction of dipping and coating equipment<\/li>\n<li>Installation of electrical systems and control of ignition sources<\/li>\n<li>Ventilation requirements<\/li>\n<li>Handling of flammable liquids<\/li>\n<li>Fire protection<\/li>\n<li>Operations and maintenance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Major changes in the 2011 <em>NFPA 34: Standard for Dipping, Coating, and Printing Processes Using Flammable or Combustible Liquids<\/em> include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Appropriate changes throughout the standard to address basic fire safety for printing operations<\/li>\n<li>Amendments to the scope to include vapor degreasing processes and to exempt processes using only Class IIIB combustible liquids<\/li>\n<li>A provision to prevent coating of workpieces whose surface temperature exceeds the boiling point of the coating material<\/li>\n<li>Provisions to describe the hazardous (classified) areas around printing presses and ink reservoirs<\/li>\n<li>A requirement for means to dissipate static electricity from nonconductive substrates<\/li>\n<li>Maximum quantities of flammable and combustible liquids revised for consistency with NFPA 30: Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code.<\/li>\n<li>Improved requirements for housekeeping and handling of impregnated rags and waste<\/li>\n<li>A new requirement for solvent recovery systems to meet appropriate provisions of NFPA 30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Protect lives and work-in-progress.
