Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.1<\/span> This test method covers the determination of pentane insolubles for particles exceeding 0.8 \u03bcm in new and used lubricating oils.<\/p>\n

Note 1:<\/span> Pentane insolubles with particle sizes less than 0.8\u2009\u03bcm may be studied with appropriate size membrane filters. Particle sizes above or below 0.8\u2009\u03bcm can be studied. The precision of this test method has been determined only at 0.8\u2009\u03bcm.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

1.2<\/span> The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
