This European Standard deals with the safety of electric room heaters for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage<\/b> being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances.<\/p>\n Examples of appliances that are within the scope of this standard are<\/p>\n convector heaters;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n fan heaters<\/b>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n heaters for use in greenhouses;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n liquid-filled radiators;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n panel heaters;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n radiant heaters;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n tubular heaters;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n ceiling mounted heat lamp appliances.<\/span>.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n For extraction fans of ceiling mounted heat lamp appliances<\/b>, EN 60335\u20112\u201180<\/span> <\/span> is applicable as far as is reasonable.<\/p>\n Appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops and other premises for normal housekeeping purposes, are within the scope of this standard.<\/p>\n Examples of appliance for household environment are appliances for typical housekeeping functions used in the household environment that may also be used by non expert users for typical housekeeping functions:<\/p>\n in shops and other similar working environments;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n in farm houses;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n in bed and breakfast type environments.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n Household environments include the dwelling and its associated buildings, the garden, etc.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in household and similar environments.<\/p>\n However, in general, it does not take into account:<\/p>\n children<\/b> playing with the appliance;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n the use of the appliance by very young children<\/b>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n the use of the appliance by young children<\/b> without supervision.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n It is recognized that very vulnerable people may have needs beyond the level addressed in this European Standard.<\/p>\n Attention is drawn to the fact that<\/p>\n for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n in many countries, additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and similar authorities;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n for appliances intended to be used in the presence of combustible dust, for example in barns or stables, additional requirements may be necessary.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n This European Standard does not apply to<\/p>\n appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n appliances intended to be used where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n heaters that are built into air conditioners ( EN 60335\u20112\u201140<\/span> <\/span>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n clothes dryers and towel rails ( EN 60335\u20112\u201143<\/span> <\/span>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n heaters for saunas ( EN 60335\u20112\u201153<\/span> <\/span>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n thermal-storage room heaters ( EN 60335\u20112\u201161<\/span> <\/span>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n heating appliances for breeding and rearing animals ( EN 60335\u20112\u201171<\/span> <\/span>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n foot warmers and heating mats ( EN 60335\u20112\u201181<\/span> <\/span>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n flexible sheet heating elements for room heating ( EN 60335\u20112\u201196<\/span> <\/span>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n heated carpets;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n central heating systems;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n heating cables ( IEC 60800<\/span> <\/span>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Household and similar electrical appliances.
