The all-new 2010 NFPA 1407: Standard for Training Fire Service Rapid Intervention Crews<\/em> specifies the basic training procedures for fire service personnel to conduct fire fighter rapid intervention operations. Requirements are consistent with NFPA 1710: Standard for the Organization and Deployment of Fire Suppression Operations, Emergency Medical Operations, and Special Operations to the Public by Career Fire Departments; NFPA 1720: Standard for the Organization and Deployment of Fire Suppression Operations, Emergency Medical Operations, and Special Operations to the Public by Volunteer Fire Departments;<\/em> and NFPA 1500: Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program.<\/em><\/p>\n

It includes the training and performance requirements for rapid intervention crews (RIC) with the goal of creating a highly disciplined operational capability to rescue fire fighters who become lost, injured, trapped, incapacitated, or disoriented in the course of an emergency scene or training operation.<\/p>\n
