It does not apply to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>freight containers, because their unique coding is specified in ISO&nbsp;6346, <i>Freight containers&nbsp;\u2014 Coding, identification and marking<\/i>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>vehicles, because their unique identification is specified in ISO&nbsp;3779, <i>Road vehicles&nbsp;\u2014 Vehicle identification number (VIN)&nbsp;\u2014 Content and structure<\/i>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>car radios, because their unique identification is specified in ISO&nbsp;10486, <i>Passenger cars&nbsp;\u2014 Car radio identification number (CRIN)<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The exclusion also applies to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>ISO&nbsp;2108, <i>Information and documentation&nbsp;\u2014 International standard book number (ISBN)<\/i> and ISO&nbsp;3297, <i>Information and documentation&nbsp;\u2014 International standard serial number (ISSN);<\/i><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTE The scope of each of ISO&nbsp;2108 and ISO&nbsp;3297 identifies the title rather than the individual copy of a book or periodical. As such, the level of identification achieved is at a level similar to the unique identity as defined in ISO\/IEC&nbsp;15459-6.
