Industry standardization of gear coupling flange dimensions enables machinery manufacturers to design shafts and flanges, flywheels, adapters, etc., to be compatible with all standard gear couplings.<\/p>\n<p>\tThis standard defines the North American industry practice, which is probably the world\u2019s largest standardized production volume, in a form that can be followed throughout the world.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe first draft of AGMA 516.01 was prepared by the Flexible Coupling Technical Committee in July 1976. It was approved by the Flexible Coupling Product Group as of December 17, 1976. It was balloted upon by the AGMA membership as of March 31, 1978.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe standard ANSI\/AGMA 9008-B00 is a revision and redesignation of AGMA 516.01.
