The remote switch in turn is normally supplied<br \/>\nby fiber link from the central office. The reach of these systems<br \/>\nis a function of the signal to noise ratio, deployed protocol and<br \/>\nbit-rate, and may exceed 1000 m (3280 ft). These systems will allow<br \/>\nthe simultaneous transmission of regular telephone services,<br \/>\ncomputer, fax and several TV channels. The TV services may be<br \/>\ninteractive or may be High Definition TV. <\/p>\n<p>PURPOSE: The purpose of this Standard is to establish generic<br \/>\ntechnical requirements that may be referenced by individual<br \/>\ntelecommunications cable specifications covering products intended<br \/>\nfor broadband outside plant use. The parameters covered provide<br \/>\nmaterial, construction, and performance requirements that are<br \/>\napplicable to filled, polyolefin insulated and jacketed cables of<br \/>\nlimited pair counts, including a variety of shield and jacket<br \/>\ncombinations. <\/p>\n<p>Because this Standard does not cover all details of individual<br \/>\ncable design, it cannot be used as a single document for<br \/>\nprocurement of product. It is intended to be used in conjunction<br \/>\nwith an individual product specification that provides complete<br \/>\ndesign details for the specific cable type and designates the<br \/>\napplicable performance requirements. Such individual cable<br \/>\nspecifications may be prepared either by the user or the<br \/>\nmanufacturer.
