This document specifies qualities for steels for general structural use. This document applies to steel plates rolled on a reversing mill, wide flats, hot-rolled sections and bars, which are used in the as-delivered condition and normally intended for welded or bolted structures.<\/p>\n

This document covers 8 steel grades and 4 qualities. Grades\u00a0S235, S275, S355, and S460 are covered in Annex\u00a0A. Grades\u00a0SG205, SG250, SG285 and SG345 are covered in Annex\u00a0B. Not all grades are available in all qualities, and some qualities have Charpy V-notch requirements.<\/p>\n

The steels specified in this document are applicable to hot-rolled flat products and sections with:<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 thicknesses =\u00a03\u00a0mm and =\u00a0150\u00a0mm for long products of steel grade S460 all qualities;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 thicknesses =\u00a03\u00a0mm and =\u00a0250\u00a0mm for long products or =\u00a0400\u00a0mm for flat products of all other grades and qualities;<\/p>\n

and no restriction on nominal thickness for grades SG205, SG250, SG285, and SG345 for flat products, sections and long products.<\/p>\n

This document does not include the following structural steels, some of which are covered by other International Standards:<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 sheet and strip: refer to ISO\u00a0TC\u00a017\/SC\u00a012 \u201cContinuous mill flat rolled products\u201d;<\/p>\n

\u2014\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 tubular products: refer to ISO\u00a0TC\u00a05\/SC\u00a01 \u201cSteel tubes\u201d.<\/p>\n
