This Standard is a sectional specification associated with generic specification JIS C 5101-1 and specifies fixed metallized polyphenylene sulfide film dielectric surface mount d.c. capacitors for use in electronic equipment (hereafter referred to as "capacitors").<\/p>\n
\nThis Standard is applicable to fixed surface mount capacitors for direct current, with metallized electrodes and polyphenylene sulfide dielectric for use in electronic equipment.<\/p>\n
\nThese capacitors have metallized connecting pads or soldering strips and are intended to be mounted directly onto substrates for hybrid circuits or onto printed boards.<\/p>\n
\nThese capacitors may have "self-healing properties" depending on conditions of use.<\/p>\n
\nThey are primarily intended for applications where the a.c. component is small with respect to the rated voltage.<\/p>\n
\nThese capacitors are classified into three performance grades, i.e. performance Grade 1 for long life applications, performance grade 2 general applications and performance grade3 fro miniature type specification.<\/p>\n
\nThis Standard does not apply to the following capacitors.<\/p>\n
\nCapacitors for radio interference suppression cited in JIS C 6065, which are covered by JIS C 5101-14.<\/p>\n
\nCapacitors for motors and for fluorescent lamps (for which IEC\/TC33: Power capacitors and IEC\/TC34: Lamps and related equipment are responsible).<\/p>\n
