This standard is used when the objective is to remove all visible contaminants from the surface and allows random color variation on no more than 5% of each unit area of surface. Surface preparation using this standard is used to provide a greater degree of cleaning than brush-off blast cleaning of stainless steels and non-ferrous metals (SSPC-SP 16).
