This document\u00a0provides the minimum set of functional<br \/>\ncapabilities that ensure interoperability among modems supporting<br \/>\nIP services required to achieve this goal. Functional capabilities<br \/>\nare described for IP modems to support the following network<br \/>\ntopologies:<\/p>\n<p>1. mesh<\/p>\n<p>2. hub-spoke<\/p>\n<p>3. point-to-point.<\/p>\n<p>A particular IP modem implementation needs to support only the<br \/>\nsubset of these topologies and transmission modes that are needed<br \/>\nfor its intended application.\u00a0However, the intent is to define<br \/>\nthese capabilities synergistically so that a single\u00a0IP modem<br \/>\ndesign could support all of the network topologies and transmission<br \/>\nmodes (burst or continuous).
