{"id":690926,"date":"2024-11-06T05:23:48","date_gmt":"2024-11-06T05:23:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/tia-1582005\/"},"modified":"2024-11-06T05:23:48","modified_gmt":"2024-11-06T05:23:48","slug":"tia-1582005","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/tia\/tia-1582005\/","title":{"rendered":"TIA-158:2005"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Standard was prepared by Technical Specification Group C of<br \/>\nthe Third Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2).This Standard<br \/>\npresents recommendations for supporting a mobile station equipped<br \/>\nwith a Mobile Equipment IDentifier (MEID) [10] in the OTASP Systems<br \/>\ndefined in [2], [3], [4] and [5].<\/p>\n<p>The OTASP feature allows a potential wireless service subscriber<br \/>\nto activate (i.e., become authorized for) new wireless service, and<br \/>\nallows an existing wireless subscriber to make changes in existing<br \/>\nservices without the intervention of a third party.<\/p>\n<p>For the initial provisioning, the Electronic Serial Number (ESN)<br \/>\nis used to identify the mobile station. ESN is a 32-bit number<br \/>\nassigned by the mobile station manufacturer, uniquely identifying<br \/>\nthe mobile station equipment. Due to the ESN exhaustion, the MEID<br \/>\nwas introduced in the cdma2000<sup>\u00ae1<\/sup> systems as the<br \/>\nalternative to ESN for new mobile stations complying with [7].<\/p>\n<p>During the migration period from ESN to MEID, Pseudo-ESN is used<br \/>\nby the MEID15 equipped mobile stations. Pseudo-ESN is a 32-bit<br \/>\nnumber derived from MEID and used in place of ESN. For the<br \/>\nprovisioning, however, Pseudo-ESN may not be used to uniquely<br \/>\nidentify a particular mobile station since Pseudo-ESN is not<br \/>\nunique.<\/p>\n<p>In order to solve this problem, the following new capability is<br \/>\nintroduced in this Standard.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Enhanced Protocol Capability Messaging &#8211; This provides the<br \/>\nmeans for the base station to ascertain the detailed capabilities<br \/>\nof the mobile station, such as supported band classes, operating<br \/>\nmodes, and MEID.<\/p>\n<p>This Standard uses the same structure and section numbering as<br \/>\n[2], [3], [4] and [5], except for all the references. Sections of<br \/>\nthis Standard that remain unchanged relative to [2], [3], [4] and<br \/>\n[5] are represented using ellipses contained within brackets<br \/>\n([&#8230;]). Modified sections are either reproduced in their entirety<br \/>\nor use the [&#8230;] notation to represent unchanged portions. Within<br \/>\nmodified sections, change bars indicate the specific paragraphs,<br \/>\nfigures, or table cells that have changed.
