{"id":280198,"date":"2024-10-19T18:55:29","date_gmt":"2024-10-19T18:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/bs-6068-2-121990\/"},"modified":"2024-10-25T15:30:51","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T15:30:51","slug":"bs-6068-2-121990","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/bsi\/bs-6068-2-121990\/","title":{"rendered":"BS 6068-2.12:1990"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This International Standard specifies methods for determining the phenol index (<b>3.2<\/b>) in drinking waters, surface waters and waste waters.<\/p>\n<p>After a preliminary distillation, the test samples are analysed according to specific application as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><b>method A (direct colorimetric method):<\/b> this method is capable of measuring the phenol index in test samples that contain more than 0,10 mg\/l in the aqueous phase (without chloroform extraction), using phenol as a standard;<\/p>\n<p><b>method B (chloroform extraction method):<\/b> this method is capable of measuring the phenol index without dilution from about 0,002 mg\/l to about 0,10 mg\/l when the coloured end-product is extracted and concentrated in chloroform phase, using phenol as a standard.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTE 1 The limits of detection achievable with both methods are insufficient for checking compliance with the limits given in the Directive 80\/778\/EEC for drinking water.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE 2 According to the results of a German interlaboratory trial using a method almost identical to method B, the lower limit of detection is 0,01 mg\/l.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Applicable to drinking waters, surface waters and waste waters, containing phenol concentrations above about 0.002 mg\/l.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><b>Water quality.
