The CDPD Service<br \/>\nProvider must select at least one subprofile from among this set<br \/>\nfor the provision of CDPD lower layer services.<\/p>\n<p>The primary reference for this Part is the<br \/>\n<i>Industry\/Government Open System Specification<\/i> [IGOSS-1].<br \/>\nThe primary reference for the protocols in this Part is the<br \/>\n<i>Stable Implementation Agreements for Open Systems<br \/>\nInterconnection Protocols<\/i> [OIW-1].<\/p>\n<p>In selecting lower layer subprofiles, the CDPD Service Provider<br \/>\nmust determine the CDPD communication role(s) a system must<br \/>\nsupport. For the provision of End System services the CDPD Network<br \/>\nmandates support of the Internet CLNS subprofile. For the provision<br \/>\nof CDPD support service, the CDPD Network mandates support of the<br \/>\nISO COTS-CLNS subprofile. For the support of Intermediate System<br \/>\nservices CDPD mandates support of the CDPD CLNS-Relay subprofile<br \/>\nand the CDPD Mobile CLNS-Relay subprofile.<\/p>\n<p>The complete set of requirements of Transport and Network Layer<br \/>\nprotocols is a combination of the selected lower layer subprofiles,<br \/>\nservice interfaces and performance requirements.
