Description

This British Standard relates to the materials, proportions, dimensions and tests of spanners having an open jaw at one end and with the shank tapering to form a podger bar at the other end, as designed for use on construction work and in shipyards.

Specifies the material, heat treatment, marking, proportions and dimensions of straight and cranked podger spanners suitable for hexagons in the Unified black heavy series, the Whitworth small hexagon series in BS 916 and BS 1083 and the Whitworth large hexagon range. A torque test is included to ensure the quality of the spanners.
