This standard gives guidance on writing the technical specification<\/b> for the procurement of stationary batteries and chargers for use in electricity generating stations (power stations). This Guide for procurement is not applicable to equipment<\/b> for use in the nuclear reactor plant area of nuclear power stations. This Guide covers stationary lead-acid and nickel-cadmium batteries, chargers, battery accommodation, battery main connections and battery accessories.<\/p>\n

This equipment<\/b> usually forms part of either a centralized or unit d.c. supplies system for duties such as switchgear closing\/tripping, protection, control, alarm, instrumentation and telecommunication supplies, emergency lighting and emergency drives.<\/p>\n
