It is based on ergonomics and currently available anthropometric measurements.<\/p>\n<p>This International Standard specifies the body&#8217;s space requirements for normal operation of equipment in sitting, sit-standing and standing positions. It includes space demands for maintenance, repairing and cleaning work.<\/p>\n<p>This International Standard does not give recommendations specifically for visual display terminal workstations at machinery. For this purpose, <span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 9241-5<\/span><\/span> can be used in conjunction with this International Standard.<\/p>\n<p>Safety distances intended to prevent hazard zones being reached by upper and lower limbs are provided in <span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 13857<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><b>BS EN ISO 14738.
