This document is intended to test aspects of the operation of

subscriber and Radio Frequency Sub-System (RFSS) equipment in the

interests of adhering to key aspects of the Two-Slot Trunked TDMA

Voice Services Common Air Interface MAC protocol as described in

[R1]. It includes a set of CP items for primitive operation. A CP

is a conformance test consisting of set of preconditions and input

parameters that result in an expected output from a Unit Under

Test. The CP nomenclature provides an independent conformance test

numbering system that is unique with this Standard and not

dependent on the paragraph, clause, or subclause numbering used in

the document. The CPs are:

CP 1 – Burst Field Conformance Tests

Tests the Reed Solomon encoder.

CP 2 – Transmit Voice Channel Conformance Test

Tests the modulation polarity, construction, coding,

interleaving, and scrambling of individual bursts, superframes, and

ultraframes.

CP 3 – Receive Voice Channel Conformance Test

Tests the error correction of the decoders in the

receiver.

In general, the standard defines test messages, which are

encoded and processed to generate expected test vectors which are

documented in Annex A, as well as in text files distributed with

the standard document. An expected test vector can be an

intermediate encoded codeword or can represent bursts that could

occur on the Phase 2 Two-Slot Time Division Multiple Access –

Trunked Voice Services Common Air Interface.

A test of a transmitter function in a UUT, such as an encoder,

consists of applying a test message to the transmitter function,

and recording the output that results. This output from the UUT is

then compared with the expected test vector to verify correctness.

In a test of a receiver function in a UUT, the test vector is

applied to the receiver function, perhaps with transmission errors,

and the receiver output is then recorded. If the receiver corrected

the errors, then the output of the receiver should match the

expected message for correctness.

The test messages and test vectors used in the transmitter tests

CP 1 and CP 2 are selected to exercise the modulator and non-voice

encoders of the transmitter under test for various codes used in

the Two-Slot Trunked TDMA Voice Services Common Air Interface [R1].

In CP 3, test vectors defined in CP 1 and CP 2 are applied as input

to test the receiver response. The test vectors used are selected

to exercise the error correcting and detecting mechanisms of the

non-voice decoders of the receiver under test. The functionality

produced by the receiver is not tested in these tests but can be

inferred from the information content of the test input, the

conditions of the test, and the operating characteristics of the

receiver.

This document is intended for use by manufacturers to serve as a

standard reference for verifying adherence to the MAC protocol as

described in [R1], as a means of assisting manufacturers in the

development of interoperable equipment, and as a means of assisting

manufacturers in the diagnosis of interoperability issues, should

they occur. This document is not designed for use as a functional

test suite. This document assumes an audience familiar with terms

and definitions contained in the standards.

Project 25 – Phase 2 Two-Slot Time Division Multiple Access Trunked Voice Services Common Air Interface Conformance Specification
