This clause of Part 1 is replaced by the following.<\/p>\n

This International Standard deals with the safety of electrically operated commercial cooking and baking ranges<\/b>, ovens, hobs<\/b>, hob elements<\/b> and similar appliances not intended for household use, their rated voltage<\/b> being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances connected between one phase and neutral and 480 V for other appliances.<\/p>\n

Additional requirements for appliances with power driven moving parts are given in Annex ZE.<\/p>\n

\n

NOTE 101 These appliances are used for example in restaurants, canteens, hospitals and commercial enterprises such as bakeries, butcheries, etc.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The electrical part of appliances making use of other forms of energy is also within the scope of this standard.<\/p>\n

As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by these types of appliances.<\/p>\n

NOTE 102 Attention is drawn to the fact that<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    For appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    In many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour, the national water supply authorities and similar authorities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      machines designed exclusively for industrial purposes,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      machines intended to be used in locations where a corrosive or an explosive atmosphere is present (dust, vapour or gas),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      continuous process machines for the mass production of food,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      machinery for processing cosmetics, chemicals and pharmaceutical products,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      steam cookers, forced and steam convection ovens (IEC 60335-2-42),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      hot cupboards (IEC 60335-2-49),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n
