{"id":262504,"date":"2024-10-19T17:25:08","date_gmt":"2024-10-19T17:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/bs-45181982a22014\/"},"modified":"2024-10-25T13:15:29","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T13:15:29","slug":"bs-45181982a22014","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/bsi\/bs-45181982a22014\/","title":{"rendered":"BS 4518:1982+A2:2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This British Standard specifies the dimensions of elastomeric \u201cO\u201d-rings which are toroidal in shape and which are used for sealing components against ingress or egress of fluids under dynamic and static conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The standard also specifies the shape and dimensions of five types of associated housing grooves for the rings when used at pressures not normally exceeding 100 bar<sup>1<\/sup>).<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTE At pressures exceeding 100 bar, or when the diametral clearances of the grooves are in excess of those specified in this standard, it is recommended that these \u201cO\u201d-rings should be used in conjunction with anti-extrusion back-up rings. Spiral anti-extrusion back-up rings and their housings, the dimensions of which are specified in BS 5106, are suitable for pressures up to approximately 200 bar.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Two charts are provided in Appendix A to aid the selection of \u201cO\u201d-rings.<\/p>\n<p>Dimensions and tolerances of toroidal sealing rings for hydraulic and pneumatic applications in static and dynamic situations.
