It is also applicable for representing times and time shifts based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).<\/p>\n<p>These extensions include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>uncertain or approximate dates, or dates with portions unspecified;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>extended time intervals;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>divisions of a year;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>sets and choices of calendar dates;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>grouped time scale units;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>repeat rules for recurring time intervals; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>date and time arithmetic.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This document excludes the representation of date elements from non-Gregorian calendars, or times not from the 24-hour clock.
