This section of IEC 60598-2 details specific requirements for luminaires for use with tungsten filament, fluorescent and other discharge lamps on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V for use in clinical areas in which medical treatment, examination and medical care takes place in hospitals and health care buildings.<\/p>\n

\ufffdThis standard does not apply to medical electrical equipment, as defined in IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60606-2-41, containing a light source.\u00aeI<\/p>\n

\ufffdNOTE 1 Medical electrical equipment may have luminaires for medical examination purposes which are covered by IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-2-41.\u00aeI<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This standard does not apply to luminaires for emergency lighting and luminaires for general illumination in non-clinical areas (e.g. offices).<\/p>\n

NOTE 2 For these luminaire types, reference should be made to other sections of IEC 60598-2.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This standard does not apply to luminaires or parts of luminaires which are designed to be sterilized by the autoclave process and luminaires for operating tables.<\/p>\n
