Devices meeting these<br \/>\nrequirements should ensure compatibility and satisfactory<br \/>\nperformance to the user in a high percentage of installations.<\/p>\n<p>A TAD may be a stand-alone device or may be integrated into CPE<br \/>\nwith other features such as a handset for voice communication<br \/>\n(ITAD). Only TADs or ITADs using digital means of storing voice<br \/>\nmessages are covered by this standard. Older devices using analog<br \/>\nstorage technology, such as cassette tapes, are not covered. Only<br \/>\nrequirements relevant to TAD functions are included in this<br \/>\nstandard. Other requirements that may also be relevant to CPE<br \/>\nhaving TAD functions may be found in other standards of the TIA-470<br \/>\nseries.<\/p>\n<p>The voice transmission requirements in this standard only apply<br \/>\nto TADs operating in a hands free, speakerphone-like mode.<br \/>\nTransmission requirements that might be applicable to recording<br \/>\noutgoing messages, listening to recorded messages, etc, using the<br \/>\nhandset of an ITAD may be covered in a future revision of this<br \/>\nstandard.<\/p>\n<p>This document proposes or references at least one measurement<br \/>\nprocedure for each technical requirement. However, these procedures<br \/>\nare not exclusive.
