Specifies a size coding scheme for ready-made garments based on actual body measurements over foundation garments. It also covers foundation garments. The scheme is shown in two charts, one covering average sizes and the other providing for slim hip fittings and full hip fittings, in combination with the bust and waist measurement. Bust, waist and hip measurements increase in 5 cm steps. The full ranges of body measurements, together with height and weight are tabulated in an appendix for average, short, tall, slim hip and full hip fittings; a similar table covers brassieres and bodysuits. Examples of labels for various garments which conform to this Standard are also appended.
Scope
The primary aim of this Standard is the establishment of a size coding scheme which indicates in a simple, direct and meaningful manner the body size of the person for whom all ready-made garments and foundation garments, with the exception of surgical or specialized foundation garments, are intended to fit and meet the needs of a very high proportion of Australian women.
A size code number is linked with the control dimensions on the label and is a means of quickly identifying individual sizes.
