{"id":289095,"date":"2024-10-19T19:36:38","date_gmt":"2024-10-19T19:36:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/bs-6829-4-31990\/"},"modified":"2024-10-25T16:33:23","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T16:33:23","slug":"bs-6829-4-31990","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/bsi\/bs-6829-4-31990\/","title":{"rendered":"BS 6829-4.3:1990"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This International Standard specifies a method for the iodometric determination of oxyethylene groups in polyethoxylated non-ionic surface active agents.<\/p>\n<p>The method is applicable to the analysis of polyethoxylated derivatives of<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>primary saturated fatty alcohols;<\/li>\n<li>oleyl alcohol;<\/li>\n<li>saturated fatty acids;<\/li>\n<li>straight and branched chain alkylphenols.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is also applicable in the presence of unreacted alcohols, fatty acids or alkylphenols of the types mentioned above.<\/p>\n<p>The method is not applicable in the presence of<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>compounds containing sulfur or nitrogen;<\/li>\n<li>compounds containing oxygen or halogen atoms on adjacent carbon atoms other than as oxyethylene groups, for example compounds containing oxypropylene groups;<\/li>\n<li>aldehydes or acetals;<\/li>\n<li>sterols and derivatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hydrolysis followed by iodometric determination.
