{"id":381282,"date":"2024-10-20T03:10:51","date_gmt":"2024-10-20T03:10:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/bsi-21-30401615-dc\/"},"modified":"2024-10-26T05:46:07","modified_gmt":"2024-10-26T05:46:07","slug":"bsi-21-30401615-dc","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/bsi\/bsi-21-30401615-dc\/","title":{"rendered":"BSI 21\/30401615 DC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This document specifies the mechanical and physical properties of nuts made of non-alloy steel or alloy steel, for three different nut styles in accordance with <span class=\"xref\">5.1<\/span>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>regular nuts (style 1),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>high nuts (style 2),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>thin nuts (style 0),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>in combination with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>coarse pitch thread M5&nbsp;\u2264&nbsp;<i>D<\/i>&nbsp;\u2264&nbsp;M39, and fine pitch thread 8&nbsp;mm&nbsp;\u2264&nbsp;<i>D<\/i>&nbsp;\u2264&nbsp;39&nbsp;mm,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>specified property classes 04, 05, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 including proof loads,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>and able to be mated with bolts, screws and studs with property classes in accordance with <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO&nbsp;898-1<\/span> <\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>These combinations are based on bolt\/nut compatibility, manufacturing processes and market needs. If other combinations are needed, e.g. for nuts designed for particular applications, see <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO\/TR&nbsp;16224<\/span> <\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Nuts conforming to the requirements of this document are tested at the ambient temperature range of 10&nbsp;\u00b0C to 35&nbsp;\u00b0C. It is possible that they do not retain the specified mechanical and physical properties at elevated and\/or lower temperatures.<\/p>\n<div class=\"non-normative-note\">\n<div class=\"note-label\">\n  NOTE 1\n <\/div>\n<p>Nuts conforming to the requirements of this document are used in applications ranging from \u201350&nbsp;\u00b0C to +150&nbsp;\u00b0C, however these nuts are also used outside this range and up to +300&nbsp;\u00b0C for specific applications. It is the responsibility of the user to determine the appropriate choice, and consulting an experienced fastener materials expert is recommended outside the range of \u201350&nbsp;\u00b0C to +150&nbsp;\u00b0C (several factors need to be taken into account, e.g. steel composition, duration of exposure at elevated or low temperature, the effect of the temperature on the fastener mechanical properties and clamped parts).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"non-normative-note\">\n<div class=\"note-label\">\n  NOTE 2\n <\/div>\n<p>Information for the selection and application of steels for use at lower and elevated temperatures is given for instance in <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">EN 10269<\/span> <\/span>, <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ASTM A320\/A320M<\/span> <\/span> and <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ASTM A194\/A194M<\/span> <\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>This document applies to the nuts specified above, with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>triangular ISO metric thread in accordance with <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO&nbsp;68-1<\/span> <\/span>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>diameter\/pitch combinations in accordance with <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO&nbsp;261<\/span> <\/span> and <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO&nbsp;262<\/span> <\/span>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>thread tolerances in accordance with <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 965-1<\/span> <\/span>, <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 965-2<\/span> <\/span> or <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO 965-5<\/span> <\/span>, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>minimum outside diameter or width across flats <i>s<\/i>&nbsp;\u2265&nbsp;1,45<i>D<\/i>&nbsp;(see <span class=\"xref\">Annex&nbsp;B<\/span>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For hot dip galvanized nuts, additional requirements are specified in <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO&nbsp;10684<\/span> <\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>This document does not specify requirements for functional properties such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>prevailing torque properties (see <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO&nbsp;2320<\/span> <\/span>),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>torque\/clamp force properties (see <span class=\"std\"> <span class=\"std-ref\">ISO&nbsp;16047<\/span> <\/span> for test method),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>weldability, or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>corrosion resistance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><b>BS EN ISO 898-2.
