<b>hand-held<\/b> mains-operated electrical <b>garden vacuums<\/b>, and <b>garden blower\/vacuums<\/b> with or without <b>shredding means<\/b> and <b>garden blowers, hereinafter referred to as machine(s),<\/b> for use at and around the home or for similar purposes, their <b>rated voltage<\/b> being not more than 250 V single phase.<\/p>\n<p>This European Standard does not apply to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>machines powered by combustion engines;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTE 1 Combustion engine driven machines are covered by EN 15503.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>machines driven by an external power source;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>machines powered from a 3 phase supply;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>vacuum cleaners intended primarily for use indoors, for water suction cleaning or animal grooming;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>NOTE 2 EN 60335-2-2 deals with this type of machine.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>walk-behind, hand-guided (support-wheeled) and ride-on machines;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>combination of a mains driven and\/or battery powered blowers and vacuums with internal combustion engines (hybrid);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><b>back-pack powered blowers and back-pack powered vacuums<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EMC and environmental aspects, except noise, have not been considered in this standard.<\/p>\n<p>This European Standard deals with all the significant hazards presented by <b>hand-held<\/b> mains-operated electrical <b>garden vacuums, garden blower\/vacuums<\/b> with or without <b>shredding means<\/b> and <b>garden blowers<\/b> when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably
